Resident of the Town of Caroline. Will Made - Dec. 18, 1840. Executors-Samuel H. Dean, Richard W. Middaugh. Witnesses, Samuel H. Dean-Seth Hanford-of Caroline, Tompkins County. Probated-April 24, 1843. Tompkins County, New York. Surrogate-George G. Frier. I will and bequeath $5 to my oldest son Jedediah Middaugh, having given him what I calculated would be his share of my estate. I will and bequeath to my son Simeon Westfall Middaugh, an equal share of my Jacksonville property, situated in the Town of Ulysses, in the County of Tompkins, New York. Consisting of a piece or parcel of land conveyed to me on Oct. 22, 1839, by Wm. G. McLune and Sarah, his wife. Containing 1/4 of an acre of land, also another lot of land adjoining the above piece or parcel of land, included in the aforesaid conveyance, containing 5/8 of an acre. I will and bequeath to my daughter, Jane Middaugh, now Jane Paige, the other half of the said Jacksonville property, after the above property is sold by my executor, the proceeds shall be equally divided between my son Simeon and my daughter Jane, and I also will and bequeath to my dau. Jane, one half of the household furniture, which belonged to her mother. I next give and devise to my son Richard W. Middaugh, and to his heirs, that certain piece or parcel of land in the Town of Caroline, upon which I now reside, bounded as follows, on the N. by the Dryden Line, on the E. by lands belonging to the heirs of Gersham Hanford, deceased, on the S. by the lands of Charles Cantine, and on the W. by the lands of Wm. Mott 2nd, containing 25 acres; and which was conveyed to me by the said Richard W. Middaugh, and Angeline, his wife on April 15, 1835. I next will and bequeath to my granddaughter Janette Betsey Paige, who now lives with me, the other half of the said household furniture, which belonged to her grandmother, who is now deceased, and provided she stays with me during my natural life, I further give and bequeath to her a cow, and the sum of $100 at my decease. In the matter of the estate of Solomon Middaugh, deceased, affidavit for pension. Filed April 24, 1843-State of New York, Tompkins County. ss: Richard W. Middaugh of Caroline in said county, being sworn, deposes & says that Solomon Middaugh was a pensioner of the United States at the rate of two hundred and twelve dollars and twenty cents per annum; was a resident of the County of Tompkins in the State of new York and died in the Town of Caroline in said County & State in the year of 1843 on the 23rd day of February; that he left no widow but left four children & only four surviving him whose names are Jedidiah Middaugh, Simeon W. Middaugh, Jane Paige, wife of Rufus W. A. Paige and this deponent Richard W. Middaugh who are respectively 21 years of age & upwards. R. W.
