No service is planned. She was born Oct. 29, 1936, to Henry and Lillian Erickson in Chignik. She grew up in Chignik Lagoon and married Hans Pedersen in 1955. Together they raised six children in a commercial salmon and subsistence lifestyle. After his death in 1984, she married A.B. Combs in 1988. They cherished their later years traveling and enjoying the company of family and many friends. She had homes in Chignik Lagoon, Kodiak, Anchorage and Homer. During the last six months, she lived in Palmer. She took great pride in her homes and family. Her family wrote: "She was an excellent cook and baker. Her cream puffs would disappear the minute she would put them (out) to cool, as all the village kids could attest to. She also loved to knit and crochet, and made a baby sweater for every new baby she knew, totally probably more than 100. "Dodie's cremains will be divided evenly between her five children for the winter with the intention of all of us reuniting in Chignik Lagoon next summer. We will have a memorial then and scatter her ashes in the water where her husband Hans' ashes were scattered and where her son Daniel was lost. "Mom had a full and interesting life and will be greatly missed, but we know she is enjoying a happy reunion in heaven." Her family added that she was much loved. Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; husbands, Hans and A.B.; and sister, Viola. She is survived by her sisters, Louise Anderson, Rosie Skonberg and Vivian Brandal; brothers, Clarence and Kenneth Erickson; daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and John Jones and family of Chignik Lagoon, Susan and Rod Shelton and family of Palmer, Kirsten Pedersen and family of Kodiak, and Sharilyn and Dan Harris of Soldotna; son and daughter-in-law, Hans Jr. and Layla Pedersen and family of Homer; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
