It is on the road to the outside beach. Frank Raby gave the land to the City for a cemetery on June 1, 1935. After the 1964 earthquake, the city contracted with Walter Muller, the mortician from Kodiak, to move 285 persons to this location from the old cemetery next to the boardwalk. These persons are buried in rows marked by white Russian Orthodox crosses at the back of the cemetery. The majority of the graves that were moved are unidentified. The cemetery was read using the handwritten Seldovia City cemetery records as a guide. There are two lists, a numerical list (that is more complete) and an alphabetical list. When the two do not agree the numerical list was used as the primary source. On March 14, 1980, Billie JoAnne Kaho provided the Kenai Totem Tracers Genealogy Society with information and an alphabetical list of the people buried in the cemetery. This information was used in the Society's 1983 book Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Death Records and Cemetery Inscriptions. That information is referred to as 1980 information. The first grave is the furthest to the left as you come through the gate. For cemetery location, see Appendix. Read September 2, 2002. Updated June 20, 2003. 232 1. Matt Albertson (Unmarked grave.
