The graves in this cemetery are marked with Russian Orthodox crosses. The crosses for females have a wooden "cap" signifying the caps women wear in church. Most of the graves have no names and were identified through the research and help of Nancy Radtke a village resident. The birth dates were provided by the Tribal office. Maiden names are in parenthesis. There are three sections of the cemetery. The oldest graves are in Section One behind the Community Hall and closest to Cook Inlet. Section Two is next to the old church and Section Three is across the road from Section Two and goes up the hill ending at Grandma's House. For cemetery location, see Nanwalek map in Appendix. The cemetery was read June 30, 2003. Additional information was provided March 17, 2004. SECTION 1 Begins across the road closest to Cook Inlet Row 1 1.
