Bartos, 53, died Oct. 10, 2005, at his home Kenai. A private service will be held in Anchorage. Mr. Bartos was born July 21, 1952, in Fairbanks. He attended Kenai Central High School and Kenai Peninsula Community College. He worked as an operator on the North Slope, and as a cook at the family restaurant, Brower's Cafe, in Barrow. Mr. Bartos was a shareholder in Kenai Native Association and Cook Inlet Region Inc. As a young man, Mr. Bartos spent many summers fishing the family's setnet sites in North Kenai and bowhead whaling on his grandfather's crew in Barrow. He was very proud of his service to his country in the 1970s when he served with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Bartos was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Brower Bartos and Henry Bartos, and brother, Joe Bartos. He is survived by his sisters, Katherine Lee of Anchorage and Henia Minium and her husband, Duke, of Nikiski; nephews, Henry Lee and wife, Jacqueline, of Anchorage, and Matthew Minium of Nikiski; niece, Alie Minium of Nikiski; and grand-niece, Kandus Lee of Anchorage.
