  YORK. A p o on Cape York and Port Clarence, 120 miles n w of Nome, the nearest

banking point. It is located in the Cape York mining district, for which it is

the p o and trading post. The principal claims have been located on the Ancavik

river and its tributaries, which enters the sea half way between Cape York and

Cape Prince of Wales. There are also valuable beach diggings in the vicinity.

Has steamer communication with Nome.
