Catherine Bushkovsky, a creole girl of Afognak, strangled her twins immediately
after their birth and hid the bodies in her house. She was tried by the Circuit
Court of Eastern Siberia, found guilty of murder and punished by being exiled to
Siberia. In addition to this, for being an adulteress she was punished with
seven years of church penitence.
