  FORT WRANGEL. A village on Wrangel Island at the mouth of the Stikine river,

160 miles s e of Juneau, its nearest banking point. Contains a Presbyterian

church, 3 hotels, a saw mill, 2 breweries, 2 salmon canneries and a salmon

hatchery. The commerce of the town is that of canned and dried fish, furs,

pelts, etc., in exchange for flour, produce and com modifies of the States. Ship
