  YAKUTAT. A p o and settlement on Yakutat bay, 200 miles n of Juneau, the

nearest banking point. It was first settled by the Russians in 1836. A Swedish

Evangelical convent and church are located here. Placer mining is being carried

on in the vicinity. Mail by steamer from Juneau and Sitka. Pop, 247.
