  FORTY MILE. A mining settlement on a river of same name. It is partly in

British and partly in United States territory. The richest discoveries have been

made on Chicken and Jack Wade Creeks, both branches of the Forty-Mile. Almost

all the other smaller streams are gold bearing. The nearest commercial point is

Forty-Mile, N W T.
