Lot is believed to descend from one of the Scotts, who settled early in Wayne Co, North Carolina. He married Mary (maiden name unkown). Various estates papers on file in Autauga Co., Alabama : On 14 Jan 1829, Certificate 4425, Cahaba Land Records, Lot Scott paid $99.25 for 79.40 acres @ $1.25 per acre, W 1/2 of SW 1/4, Section 3, Township 17, Range 15, Autauga County, Alabama. Lot Scott was located in these censuses: 1810 Sampson Co., NC: Lott Scott 16-26 years; wife 16-26 years; one son under 10 and one daughter under 10. The family had one loom and made an estimated 60 yards homespun annually. 1820 Sumpter County, SC, p. 103: Lott Scott 26-45 years; wife 26-45 year, one son 10-16 years; two sons under 10; and 2 daughters under 10. Three persons were engaged in agriculture. 2 male slaves under 14; and 1 female slave 14-26. 1830 Autauga County, Alabama, Cpt. Huddleston's District: M. Scott 40-50 years; one son 5-10 years; one son 10-15 years; one son 15-20 years, one daughter 5- 10 years. (Lot is deceased) There was one male slave 10-24; one male slave 24-35; and one female slave 24-35 years. Mary Scott, widow of Lot, remarried to Samuel Fleming in 1833 Autauga Co., Alabama. According to a plat map, he was a neighbor. Samuel is believed to be the Samuel Fleming who was a native of Ireland, and served in the American Revolution. His obit is in the Wetumpka Argus Mar 6, 1844. Children of Lot Scott and Mary are as indicated on estate papers were: James Scott, born August 23, 1807 in North Carolina; died January 20, 1886 in Autauga Co., Alabama. James Nummy (believed to be husband of daughter, Elizabeth, born about 1810) Andrew J. Scott, born 1813 in South Carolina; died October 19, 1873 in Alabama. Council Scott, born 1819 in South Carolina. Joseph Scott, born 1820 in South Carolina. . Sarah Ann Rose Scott, born 1826 in Alabama; died June 27, 1875 in Pine Level, Autauga Co., AL. 1. James Scott, son of Lot, was born August 23, 1807 in North Carolina and died January 27, 1886 in Autauga County, AL. He married: 1st: Catherine Griffis, daughter of John Griffis. Catherine was born Dec 15, 1809 and died Oct 1, 1867. James' 2nd wife was Emily Boone, daughter of Joseph J. Boon on May 15, 1873. Emily was born July 4, 1841 and died April 10, 1896. James Scott is buried in a family cemetery on a wooded ridge off County Road 57, on a logging road on the right near the junction of County Road 51 on the old Scott homestead. Several three or four unmarked graves also on site. Children of James Scott and Catherine are: Joseph James Scott, born November 29, 1829. John Wesley Scott, born July 01, 1832. Mary Katherine Scott, born December 11, 1833, married Armindo Biggs Manning. George Washington Scott, born October 09, 1835. Sarah Scott, born July 17, 1837; died January 17, 1922; married William Lewis Tatum William Weathers Scott, born April 22, 1840. Delilah Ann Jane Scott, born May 25, 1842. She married 1st Peter E. Tatum, who died in Rock Island prison as a POW in the CSA . Married 2nd Lambert A. Chambliss Harriet Devalle Scott, born July 08, 1844, married Robert Gaston Chambliss. Benjamin Franklin Scott, born August 03, 1846. Samuel Smith Scott, born February 01, 1848, died in Chilton Co, AL married 1st to Elsie Booth, 2nd to Emma Johnson. Children of James Scott and Emily are: Robert Lee Scott, born September 21, 1874 in Autauga Co., AL. Mary Emma Scott, born April 19, 1876 in Autauga Co., AL. Charles Wesley Scott (believed to have died as an infant) Orah Belle Scott, born Aug 12, 1879 in Autauga AL, died Oct 8, 1926 in Aut. Co, AL, unmarried Jesse Booth Scott, born October 19, 1881, died Dec 30, 1944 married Allie Almira Killough on Dec 28, 1904. 2. Elizabeth Scott was born about 1810 in North Carolina. She married James A. Nummy. 3. Andrew J. Scott was born 1813 in South Carolina, and died October 19, 1873 in Alabama (Source: Masonic Records - Hampton Sidney Lodge.). He married Rebecca . His marriage may be the one recorded in Coosa County, AL (Book A, p. 97) in which Andrew J. Scott marries Rebeeca Pearce on 12 December, 1839. Andrew J. Scott's death date is found in the Masonic records of the Hampton Sidney Lodge; Robinson Springs, Alabama (near Prattville). Records located at Grand Lodge, Montgomery, Alabama. Andrew J. was a Methodist minister in the late 1850's according to records in the Alabama archives. At some time prior to his death in 1873, he pastored Pine Level Methodist Church, according to his son-in-law's obituary in 1934. Children of Andrew Scott and Rebecca (Pearce?) are: i. Lott Abbott Scott, born December 1845 in Alabama; died April 1915 in Mountain Creek. He married Sarah Ann Hollon on November 16, 1866 in Autauga Co., AL. Sarah was the daughter of Sam W. Hollon. Lott Abbott Scott, according to 1900 Chilton Co. AL Census, had been married 54 years and had six children In the 1880 Chilton Co., AL Census, Lot A. Scott gives his occupation as "House Carpenter." Lot & Sarah had one son, John W. Scott, age 4 in this census. Lot was in the Old Soldier's Home at Mountain Creek and is buried there in the Confederate Cemetery. Lot served in the 59th Al Infantry, Co. B. and enlisted March 1862 at Robinson's Springs. He was wounded at Petersburg, and paroled in Virginia at the close of the war. He received a pension. ii. Catherine "Cate" Scott, born 1846. iii Sarah J. Scott, born 1849. iv. Martha Frances "Mattie" Scott, born October 26, 1851 in Autauga Co., Al.; died October 26, 1924 in Autauga Co., Al.. She married Peter James "Jimmy" Tatum August 11, 1870 in Montgomery, Montgomery, AL. Her husband's obituary mentions: "...... His wife, who was Martha Frances Scott, daughter of A. J. Scott once pastor of the Pine Level church, died ten years ago. Four sons, Messrs. Eph (Epps); J. Lewis; John and A. J.; one daughter Miss Kate Tatum...Burial was in the Pine Level cemetery with the Verbena Masonic Lodge in charge." Mattie is also buried there. v. Lucinda Scott, born 1855 in Autauga Co., AL. She married a Post. 4. Council Scott was born in 1819 in South Carolina and died between July 5, 1880 and Nov 5, 1892. He married Margaret A. Lasson, April 18, 1839 in Montgomery, AL. They are found in the 1850 & 60 Autauga Co, AL census p. 49 (Huddleston Dist.). Children were: i. Benjamin Lott Scott, born February 04, 1840 in Autauga Co, AL; died December 05, 1901 in Autauga Co, AL. He married Sarah "Sally" Obedience Moon, September 13, 1860 in Autauga Co, AL Children were: 1. Edna Isabel Scott, born July 06, 1862 2. Charles Council Scott, born October 15, 1865 3. Benjamin Edom Scott, born April 10, 1868 4. James Wesley Scott, born June 29, 1870 5. William Sidney Scott, born May 12, 1876 ii. Charles W. Scott, born 1842 iii. Robert J. Allen Feb 22, 1883 ix Jackson Lee Scott, born March 2, 1863, died Sept 28, 1926; married Eliza Jane Carter x Ida Scott, born 1867 5. Joseph Scott, born between 1820-30, is mentioned as being one of the minor heirs of Lot Scott. However, in the final settlement in Orphans Court of July 26, 1841, he is listed as "Joseph Scott, deceased." 6. Sarah Ann Rose Scott was born 1826 in Alabama, and died June 27, 1875 in Pine Level, Autauga Co., AL. According to estate settlement papers in the Orphan Court of July 26, 1841, Sarah Ann Rose had a first marriage to a Mr. Early. She later married Isaac Little Abt. 1848. Sarah Ann Rose Scott's death date comes from list of members of Pine Level Methodist Church in 1875. Isaac Little is listed in the 1850 Autauga Co. Census. Sarah's mother, Mary Flemming is living with them. The only known child is listed in the 1850 census as Mary J., born 1850. There are likely other children born after the 1850 census.
