July 31, 1872 Sept 21, 1957 'My beloved wife' Additional Comments: L.S. Apperson, according to a descendent, was a Captain in the Confederate army and is the one, after finding Union troops had pillaged and looted his home, led some Autauga Co Rangers or Minutemen (Home Guard) across country and headed off and ambushed the Union troopers who did it while on their way back to Selma, Al. to rejoin their command (Union Gen. James H. Wilson). Supposedly all the Yankee pillagers were killed in or near Burnsville, Dallas Co., Al. That is a story I have always heard but never new who was involved until today.
