My Dear Good Wife: You may be surprised to receive so many notes from me by the same hand, but I have been so confused for several days that I do not know what I have written. I have no reliable news. We expect to get into a snarl soon, but I believe we are ready to give them a hearty welcome. May the God of Battles be with us & help us as brave patriots defend our honor & our Liberties & the Liberties of our dear wives & little children. I received a letter from Brother G. R. Tally. Was proud to hear from him. Give my love to all my Relatives. Be of good cheer my Dear Wife. Pray for your husband who is a soldier fighting in a good cause. Tell Bob I sent him his directions how to proceed. He can come. Below you will find bill of Medicine which please send me by Capt. Davis. Now my dear loved one let me close.
