Jones < bamamom@us.inter.net > ==================================================================== November 2001 Including Witt-Brown, there are six visible cemeteries in Bon Secour, AL: Benton - private family Catholic Fisherman Riverview St. Peter's Episcopal United Methodist Witt-Brown It is told that there is at least one more burial place in Bon Secour that is now a home site. This information was prepared by: Doris V. Fulford Witt Jones August 2001. Update: 9/19/2001 WITT-BROWN CEMETERY BON SECOUR, AL. SOUTH BALDWIN COUNTY From its establishment in the 1880's until May of 1981 this cemetery was known as Witt Cemetery. The grounds were given as a burial place by Mary Ann Witt, and confirmed by her will dated August 1890. At the writing of her will there were already at least two graves, possibly more, on these grounds. She designated 1/2 acre, and in 1966 Willie Witt, her grandson, gave additional land along the west boundary and George Brown gave land along the east boundary and also included his family burial plots to the south. The cemetery was surveyed in May of 1981 and given the name of Witt-Brown at that time. The following is not just a list of names and dates of those buried in this cemetery, but also contains notes that I have added for assisting in genealogy searching, and I give my permission for the information to be used as such. Names contained in ( ) are maiden names, names in " " are names they were known by in the community.
