Rider, Sr. | In the Probate Court of Baldwin County, Alabama, Deceased | October 6th, 1928 In the matter of the application of Jane Rider to have homestead of said decedent set aside to her as the widow of said decedent. Comes Jane Rider, and files in court her application to have the homestead of said decedent set apart to the minor heirs as exempt from administration and the payment of depts. Said application is in writing and is as follows: State of Alabama, Baldwin County. To the honorable G.W. Humphries, Judge of Probate of Baldwin County, Alabama: Comes Sarah Jane Rider and respectfully shows unto your Honor and this Honorable Court as follows: That she is a resident of Baldwin County, Alabama, over the age of twenty one years; that she is the widow of Edgar A. Rider, Sr. who died in said county and State onor about April 3rd, 1926, having property therein; that there has been no exemption of personal property set apart to your Petitioner. That the said Edgar A. Rider, Sr., died seized and possed of the following described real property situated in said county and State, to-wit: Beginning at the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of Section six, town ship three south, range three east, run north 150 yards; thence west 140 yards; thence north 140 yards; thence west 150 yards; thence south 26 yards to the southeast corner of land conveyed by James A. Rider and wife to Joshua D. Rider by deed dated August 10, 1908; thence west 41.25 yards to a post; thence a southwesterly course 129 yards to a post to the northeast corner of a lot now or formerly owned by Neeley J. Bankester; thence south 220 yards tp a post, thence west 440 yards to a post; the place of beginning, containing 23 1/2 acres, more or less, and beging in section six, township three south, range three east. The said property is all of the real estate owned by decedent at the time of his death; and that said property is of the value of less than Two Thousand dollars in value and one hundred and sixty acres in area, and was occupied by said decedent as a homestead at the time of his death. That said decedent left surviving him your pentioner, Sarah Jane Rider, and the following children: Mamie Littlejohn, whose address is Thorsby, Alabama, and W.H. Rider, J.D. Rider, J.A. Rider, Martha J. Johnson, Rose Bell Chestang, Margaret Chestang, Velva Davis, Selie Head, Ed Rider, A.R. Rider and Mary Vines, all residents of Baldwin County, Alabama; that all said children are over the age of twenty one years.
