State of Alabama County of Barbour, SS On this 27th day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and Seventy nine, personally appeared before me, G.H. Estes Clerk City Court of Eufaula, the same being a court of record within and for the county and State aforesaid, (1) Sarah Howell, aged 84 years, a resident of Eufaula, in the State of Alabama, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of (2) Dempsy Howell deceased, who was the identical (3) Dempsy Howell, who served under the name of (4) Dempsy Howell as a (5) Private in the company commanded by Captain Easter in the ______ regiment of Georgia , commanded by Ezekial Wimberly , in the war of (6) 1812 volunteered; that her said husband (7) 4 months at Clinton Georgia on or about the Sometime day of During the , A.D. 1814 , for the term of 6 Months , and continued in actual service in said war for the term of (8) About 4 months discharged , and whose services terminated, by reason of (9) the close of the war, at Darrion, Ga. (illegible) , on the ........ day of ......................., A.D. ................ She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (10) 6 ft. 4 in. Hair black, blue eyes, fair complexion She further states that she was married to the said Dempsy Howell, at the city ( or town ) of .........................., in the county of Jones , and in the state of Georgia , on the ..................... day of .............., A.D. 1815 by one (11) Gray , who was a (12) Justice of the peace , and that her name before her said marriage was Commander; and she further states that (13) .....Dempsy Howell........and that her said husband (14) Dempsy Howell , died at Monroe Co. , in the state of Georgia , on the 9th day of July A.D. 1840 ; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date his discharge from the Army, viz: (15) Married in Jones lived in Twigs Co Monroe Co Crawford Co later to Barbour Co Ala in 1847 She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land (or the additional bounty land ) to which may be entitled under the act approved March 3, 1855, and hereby appoints N.W. Fitzgereld of Washington D.C. , her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim ; and she further declares thta she has heretofore made .............. application for (16) land and recd 120 acres & now claims 40 acres additional and that her residence is No..........
