Wednesday morning, May 6, 1885 Page Two In the list of old curiosities, Eufaula comes to the front with a powder horn that did duty in the War of Independence. It is rudely carved and bears the name of Isaac Hay. Toward the smaller end of the horn are the words: “Liberty or death,” and the date 1777; a deer and a snake are also carved on it. It is now owned by Mr. Wm. Speight, and was presented to his great grandfather by its former owner, Isaac Hay. The horn figured in the surrender of Cornwallis. – Troy Enquirer File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/al/barbour/newspapers/powderho1613gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/alfiles/ File size: 1.2 Kb
