Henry Smith, the principal witness in a murder agains Jesse Miller, a rich man, and who is believed to be the leader of a gang of criminals, was found murdered a few weeks ago near Blocton. Five arrests were made in connection with the Smith murder. They are to be tried at Centerville this week. The streets of Blocton are being patrolled night and day by vigilantes. The witnesses for the State are being kept under guard to prevent their being murdered. The citizens fear that an attempt will be made to rescue the prisoners when the trial begins and have resolved to come fully armed to prevent it.
