D. Avery, formerly a prominent planter in Bibb County, was buried Sunday with services from Friendship Church in Bibb County. The Rev. Mr. Mitcham officiated with burial n the church cemetery. Mr. Avery died Thrusday (August 25, 1949) after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Bibb County and spent the greater part of his life there before moving to Tuscaloosa. In 1925 he moved to Hale County and later to Tuscaloosa. Surviving are his widow,(Dolly Bailey Avery), six sons and eight daughters. Active pallbearers were Percy Powell, John Powell, R. Jacobs, Cluster J. Hartley, Clayton L. Hartley and Ford Stone. Additional Comments: He was predeced in death by a son; O.T.(Oliver Thomas) and a daughter; Mary Francine Avery. His 6 sons are Richard Clayton, Burdette, Arthur, Frank, Tompson, Jack Avery. His 8 daughters are Velma Bailey, Annie Mitchell, R.T. Mayfield, Geneva Pulley, Lolan Clements, Sara Lou Morgan, Odean Meggs, Elliner Skelton.
