The Cherokee Advance (Canton, GA) 10 Jan 1884 p 2
At Centreville last Saturday Mrs. George Whitley, a widow lady, shot and
instantly killed John W. Diall, a young white man, who attempted an indecent
assault upon her.  A correspondent writing of it says the community is loud in
its praise of the brave womans' (sic) defense of her virtue.
