S. Hayes of Woodstock, Ala. Mrs. W. S. Hayes was born August 11th 1823 and was called to her heavenly home April 25th 1906, she professed religion at a camp meeting when she was but eleven years old, and for seventy-two years lived a devoted Christian. She lived upon these sinful shores of ours about eighty-three years, she met in an humble and Christ like manner her duties arising out of the obligation she sustained to her home, her church, and her community. Her husband and one son (Mr. Y. Hayes, Probate Judge of Bibb County) and two daughters preceded her to the land of rest, two obedient and devoted sons and two dutiful and affectionate daughters living at Woodstock, Ala. are left to mourn her loss. She was married to W. S. Hayes on November 7th, 1844. They celebrated their golden wedding November 7th, 1884. William Smith, father of Nancy Smith (wife of Michael Moore) and grandfather of Irene Moore Hayes came from Ireland to Pennsylvania in 1748. He enlisted in one of the first companies organized in Pennsylvania. Her first cousin James Smith was sent as a delegage to the Continental congress and was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Additional Comments: From other records it is known that the husband of Irena Smith Moore Hayes was William Sidney Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a confederate soldier from Tuscaloosa. The confederate records indicates: Records show William S.
