This photogtraph presents a view looking South toward Palmerdale. The view to the far left shows East Railroad Street (The main road through Village Springs in 1917 connecting Birmingham and Oneonta). The L & N railroad tracks are shown in the center of the photograph. It’s interesting to note that as far back as 1917 a side track existed. The railroad station and the water tank are shown further up in the center of the photograph and apparently were spared major damage. The debris to the far right is believed to be the remains of the New Danforth Hotel (not fully proven at this time).
