These are to authorize you or either of you to solemiize the rites of Matrimony Between James S. Armstrong and Polly Holt of said County agreeable to the Statue in such case made and provided Given at the office o fhte Clerk of the County Court of said County this third day of May 1834. Mace Brinkley, Clerk C.C. In this case the reputed Father William Holt of the female gave me consent personally to the above marriage, Mace W. Brinkley, Clerk C.C. (Bond for) Know all mean by these presents that we James S. Armstrong and Charles Holt of Blount County, State of Alabama are held firmly bound unto the governor of the State of Alabama being and his seccessors in office in the sum of Two Hundred dollars for the use of said State for the due payment whereof we hereby find ourselves your being jointly and severally. Witness our hands and seals this 3rd day of May 1834. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said (blank) hath this day prayed a license from the Clerk of the Conty of Blount County to be married to Polly Holt. Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then the above obligation to the void otherwise to remain in full force. Signed James S. Brinkley clerk of the county court of the said county and being duly sworn says on oath Meat (sp) agreeably to the account given him by his parents in which he verly belives to true his past 21 years of age since the 7th day of January last past Sworn to and so bonded before me, Mace T.P. Brindley Clerk Cle. James S. Armstrong (Certificate of Solemization of License) I certify that I have solemized the Writes of Matrimony for the or this named couple this 13th of May 1834, Reuben Hays Justice of the Peace for Blount County. Additional Comments: James Stewart Armstrong was the son of James and Sarah Elizabeth Armstrong, He indicated on Voters Registration Application (Winston County) he was born in York County, SC. 10 June 1810. He moved to Itawamba County, MS where he filed for Land (Cash Entry) on the 30th of Dec 1844. On 1 Sep 1860 he filed for Land in Winston County, Alabama (Cash Entry) and according to his application for the Southern Claims Commission he moved to Marion County, Alabama the later part of 1869.
