COLLINS, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Bullock County, Ala., was born in February, 1848, in the county where he now resides. His parents were Charles B. and Elvira (Culpepper) Collins, who came from Georgia. Daniel M. Collins received his education at the common schools of Bullock County. After leaving school he went to Montgomery, Ala., where he read law in the office of Governor Watts and Col. Daniel S. Troy, and in 1873, was admitted to the bar. He did not engage in the practice of the law, but taught school and farmed until 1886. In 1884 he was Justice of the Peace, and two years later was elected Circuit Court Clerk, and is still filling the position with credit to himself and to the interest of his county. Mr. Collins was married in 1875 to Miss Sarah E., daughter of Oliver and Martha (Martin) Powell, of Dallas County, Ala., and to them three children have been born: Bertie, Charles M. and Robert Lee.
