B. Earles Many hearts were saddened on Wednesday morning, August 16, 1939, when the death angel came and carried Mr. O. B. Earles to the land where there is no more sickness or sorrow. He was loved by all who knew him, because of his jolly nature and Christan spirit. All was done that loving hands could do but, God knew best and called "Pap" from us, into that happy home. A devoted husband and father a good friend and neighbor, the vital attributes of his life will ever live. He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church for many years, and never shirked any task no matter how large, that would add to the glory of his maker. He was always doing something to make others happy. "Pap" was 78 years of age. Having been born in Bullock County February 7, 1861, and living there all his life. He was twice married. First to Miss Mary Catherine Rotton in 1888 and to this union was born three children. His wife and one child of this union preceded him to his grave. He was married again in 1898 to Miss Minnie Cook, and was again preceded to the grave by her and their five children. His home going leaves many to mourn his passing. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. S. A. Sharpe of Stills Cross Roads; one son Mr. W. J. Earles also of Stills Cross Roads, 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A brief funeral service was conducted from Macedonia Church by Rev. Stanford Parnell of Union Springs. A consciousness of divine love permeated the large assembly of friends gathered there to pay their last tribute of love and respect to one who had passed on. Beautiful Home and Sweet By and By were beautifully sung by friends. Internment was in Macedonia Cemetery with Keller of Union Springs in charge. The following friends acted as palibearers Fred Brooks, Albert Brooks, Watson Brooks, Knox Murphy, Dixon Hickman and Cliton Hickman. Father Dear, you've gone and left us. After staying many years: Although I know you would not like it. I can't help the flowing tears. When on earth you suffered long. But still you did your best; And we know you're better off, Since God, has called you 'Home to Rest.' So dear father, we will seek you; In the home of peace and love; Where there'll be no more parting. When we meet up there above.
