This file was contributed and copyrighted by: Ruth Hester ================================================================================ August 2002 Brooks Chapel Cemetery Butler County, Alabama Brooks Chapel Cemetery is located abt. three tenths of a mile from Little Brown Church Cemetery and about center of a pasture owned by Mrs. Vaudie Knight who is presently in process of removing a stump from one of the graves with an unreadable headstone. If you intend to visit this cemetery you must get in contact with Mrs. Knight who was kind enough to take me over there in her pickup. She has a lot of cattle out there. She too, would love to find out who is buried there so she could place a plaque with names. S. Brooks Departed this life 1857 Aged 51 years, 4 mos. and 28 days (Daughter of Drury Mitchell) Jno. S. Brooks(John Sawyer) Born June 14, 1796 Died April 2, 1867 Charlie (Flowers) Son of J.J. and P(?) C. Flowers Feb. 27, 1866 Died July 25, 18?? unreadable smoothe stone Pushed over flat on ground. Tree stump in middle of grave (Mrs. Knight is rotting it and plans to pull it over with her truck) About middle were a lot of big rocks as grave markers. A couple of rows with total of twelve graves. There were a couple of old wooden grave markers rotted and 3 more smoothe grave stones with no visible markings. In all we counted 20 spaces believed to be unmarked graves.
