Location: South of Ebenezer East Cemetery and east of Gravel Hill Cemetery, the Rhodes Cemetery is located on private property of Union Camp Lumber Company. It is in woods to left off Gravel Hill Road, Township 9, Range l4, Section 11. Take the first dirt road to left past Gravel Hill Baptist Church. A survey done by Lucile Smith Stinson of Bridgeport, Texas was conducted April 30, 1992. Cemetery conditions at that time were reported as follows: "The cemetery is in such bad condition that only 2 tombstones are visible. One still stands upright. The other is broken and can only be read by the tracing of a finger in the letters to determine what is written. The cemetery is overgrown with weeds and briars. The graves in such a disarray that what mounds of dirt once covered the graves have now formed sunken holes." [d/o Jarred Rhodes; w/o John P. E. Smyth] In 2010, Susan Crowson and others have worked to clear the cemetery and reported as follows: "Efforts are being made to clear and mark the Rhodes Family Cemetery which is located in woods off Gravel Hill Road in Butler County AL. We know Jared and Martha King Rhodes are buried there. Would you like to help with this preservation and do you know of any family members buried there?" Smythe Roundtree, York Jul 28, 1900 aged 75 years [per 1900 census, born Mar 1819, a black man, h/o Winnie Rountree] 2 adult slabs broken, cannot read Additional Information: Mr. W. E. Parmer stated that many members of the Lowery family are buried here. Also, Mrs. Poplin, great-great-grandmother of W. E. Parmer is known to be buried here. In April 2006, Blanche West Hatter, granddaughter of Sanford Rhodes, and Samuel Parmer, son of W. E.
