Saml J Bolling, Judge of Probate for the county & state aforesaid Amanda E Murphy who is the Administratrix of the estate of J B Murphy deceased, would respectfully show unto your honor that the said J B Murphy departed this life about April 1865, that about Oct 20th 1865 following she was appointed administratrix of said estate. She shows that she is the widow and relict of said dec’d, that she has the following named children all of whom are minors and reside with her in said county, who are the heirs and distributees of said estate, to wit: Susan M, Sarah E, Julia, John W, Augustus, Florence S, Anderson and Ella Murphy, children of said deceased. Summary: also describes land homesteaded by J B Murphy: SE ¼ of Sect 1 T9 R12; W ¼ of SW ¼ Sect 5 (actually Sect 6) T9 R13 = 231.73 acres. He resided on homesteaded land at time of death. She said it was necessary to sell all the lands to pay debts of estate. Selected real estate to include the homestead to the value of $500 for her use and the use of her said children. Asks judge to appoint appraisers who appraised the estate to appraise and fix the value of said lands. Saucer were appointed appraisers of Said Estate and on the 1st day of Novr 1865 Said appraisers appraised among other things 191 acres of Land as property of the Estate of intestate at $2.00 per acre amounting to $382.00 that your Admx at the time of said appraisement believed that Said Lands belonged to the Estate of her intestate, that Some time about the month of August 1869 one Willson (sic) Murphy Showed to affiant a deed executed to him by Said Julius B. Murphy in the year 1855 which was the first notice that She had that Said Lands had been conveyed by her intestate in his life time, your petitioner now therefore begs leave to State that upon seeing the deed of said Wilson Murphy which She believes to be the genuine Signature of her intestate, that She believes that She has been improperly charged with Said Lands appraised at $382.00. She now therefore prays that Said appraisement may be amended So as to discharge her from any liability on account of Said Lands and that this application may be taken and considered in connexion and as a part of her declaration of Insolvency and your petitioner will ever pray &c Sworn to and Subscribed A.
