The State of Alabama   Butler County
Know all men by these presents that we 
James Burkett Sr. and Mary Burkett have 
this day bargained and Sold and by these 
presents do bargain Sell and convey to Joseph 
Tipton of the County of Dallas and State aforesaid 
a certain tract or parcel of land lying in 
the Cahaba land District and described as 
follows.  The W ½  of NW ¼ Section 11 also SE ¼ 
of NW ¼  Section 11 in all 120 acres All in Section
Eleven Township Eight Range Twelve in all one 
hundred and Twenty acres more or lefs  To 
have and to hold the Said lands to him the 
said Joseph Tipton with all and Singular the 
rights members and appertinances forever.  
And we Warrant them free from any in-
cumbrances and the title complete.
Given under our hands this 16th day of 
October one Thousand and hundred and fifty four.

October 16th A D /54   Received of Joseph Tipton 
Three hundred and fifty Dollars in full 
payment of the above described land.

Personally appeared before me Edward Lee an 
acting Justice of the peace in and for Said County 
James Burkett Sr. and his Lady Mrs. Mary Burkett, 
who acknowledged that they Signed Sealed and 
delivered the foregoing deed for the purposes 
therein exprefsed.
Given under my hand this the 16th day of 
October 1854.			Edward Lee  {seal}
				Justice of the peace
The foregoing was Received in office for
Record February the 3rd 1855
And was Recorded February the 6th 1855.
