JACK GIPSON In memory of our loving father and precious husband. On Saturday morning, July 9th at 2:50 o’clock the Lord, our Heavenly Father, sent his holy death Angels to my father and commanded him to leave this sinful world of nothing but sorrow and pain, and now father is safe with all the holy Angels where there is no more parting. He is happy, his clothes are beautiful and his food is rich, for the Lord doth feed and clothe my father now and will forever more. I can just imagine how my darling father’s heart rejoiced when the Angels came to his heart door and said to him, come go with me, my loving son, for the Lord hath need of thee in a better world than this one you are in, for there your mind will be easy, and your heart will rejoice with happiness. Father was born in Covington County in the year of 1866, moving to Butler County with his father when quite a small boy, making his home in Butler about fifty-eight years. On December 14th, 1888, he was married to Miss Anna Eliza McKinney. There were born to them seven children, four girls and three boys. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mrs. A. H. [E.] Gipson, Mr. and Mrs. Mert Blackwell of Montgomery, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Gipson of Ovett, MS, Misses Leila, Ala, and Lois Gipson and brother Morris, all of Georgiana, Route 6. Also two brothers, Mr. J. E. Gipson of Georgiana, Route 6, Mr. J. N. Gipson of Hosford, Fla., five granddaughters, one grandson, besides a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and friends. If father had an enemy on earth he never did know it. He was a friend to all he met, young and old. He was ready and willing at any time to help in a kind deed or do a good task and speak a good word. I catch myself looking for dear father often even though I do know he is dead in this world and cannot come back to us, and say son or daughter be careful, as that was the word he spoke to us when he wanted us to watch the path our footsteps trod over. We thank all of our kin people and friends all over the state for their kindness during the illness and death of our darling father. We also wish to thank Bro. Sammie Etheridge for the beautiful sermon he preached at the funeral service. If I could call father back here I would not, but I pray to thee Almighty Father that we can live a sweet Christian life and meet our dear sweet father in Heaven above where we will be safely at rest. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Elizabeth 27 years ago. Father was 61 years old the 20th of March. A loved one from us is gone, the one we all loved so well, a place is vacant in our home which never can be filled. Sleep on dear father and husband and grand-daddy and take thy sweet rest till we all can meet thee on that beautiful shore where there is no more trouble.--Written by his wife and children and grandchildren.
