H. Grant Dies After Long Illness Hilliary Herbert Grant died at his home here Saturday after a long illness. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Grant was born in Butler County on July 29, 1861. He lived a few miles north of Greenville for a number of years, and had been a resident of this city for many years. Mr. Grant was one of the best known and best liked citizens of the county. For several years he was connected with the Sheriff's office, and during that time his acquaintanceship was extended to every part of Butler. He was a successful farmer and business man and farm supervisor. His friends were devoted to him, and he to them, as friendship meant much to him. Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. E. L. Cheatham and Mrs. A. G. Cheatham, of Greenville; Eugene H. Grant, of Dallas Texas, J. George Grant, Memphis, Tenn.; DeWitt Talmadge Grant, Samson, Ala.; Mrs. C. R. White, Hapville, Ga.; Buell G. Grant, Greenville. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday afternoon, with the Rev. W. H. Venters, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. O. M. Sells, pastor of the Forest Home Methodist Church. Burial was in the Grant lot at Fort Dale cemetery. Pall bearers were: Joe Hartley, Lane Harrison, Robert Beeland, William Grant, John Foster and J. A. Cheatham. Dunklin in charge. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Grant and Mrs. Minnie Hartley, Andalusia; Mrs. Sam Cowart, Georgiana; Mrs. John Grimes, Daphne; Mrs. Edwin Stephens, Loxley.
