The following is a copy of the marriage license of James Clayton Wasden/Wasdin 
and Amanda Jay.  



The State of Alabama, Butler County
To any ordained or licensed Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or 
Probate Courts, or Justice of the Peace for said County - Greeting

You are hereby authorized to celebrate the rites of matrimony between James C. 
Wasdin (Wasden) and Amanda Jay and this shall be your sufficient authority for so doing.

Given under my hand and seal, this 18th day of July A.D 1872 and of the 
American Independence the 97th year.

The above named parties were married by me at William Jays on the 21st day of 
July A.D. 1872
