Bennett and Nicey Livicia Padgett, and my Great Grandfather. Married Nancy Lucerita Kimbrell 13 Oct 1859, Chulafinnee, Cleburne Co, Al. Children: James Green L., Joel Milton Jessie "Jack", Harriet Maranda, Henry Littleton Daniel, Martha Elizabeth, Charles Edward "Ed", Nancy J. Katie, Georgianna Lucinda Francis and Mary Ida Mae. Also see: Obit Ed Bennett Calhoun Co., AL. http://files.usgwarchives.net/al/calhoun/obits/ebennett.txt George had just turned 22 when he was wounded in a skirmish at Tazewell or Taswell, TN, losing his left hand and wrist. Tazewell is approximately 60 miles northeast of Knoxville, TN, off US Hwy 25(SR-32). Although, the loss of his hand was a tragedy and the hardship it manifested is evident by the following pension applications, it must continue to be remembered that eight of their nine children were born after this unfortunate occurrence. And based on the historical records for the 30th Alabama Infantry Regiment, the mortality rate was extremely high from then to end of the war. As his post war descendants we should be thankful for his strength and tenacity in surviving. *Co G 30th Ala. Inf. Reg. Bennette, G. W. Private Enlisted March 19, 1862 Camp Curry, Ala.
