The Talladega program was sponsored by the Connor Davis Post Veterans of Foreign Wars... Two Anniston entries battled away for the middlewight title in the action packed finals as Homer Tally, 150 poumds, outpointed Gene Bishop in a thrilling three rounder. The decision was as close as they fight itself, but it was Tally by a narrow margin. Both had won their first bouts Thursday night with Tally outpointing Rufus McInnish of Talladega while Bishop won by a T.K.O. over John Wilcox of Talladega. Jimmy Tally, also of Anniston, had already claimed the fith to fight for the state bantamweight title because there were no opponents in his weight class. Ellis Bunnheld a bye Friday's bouts and will try for the featherweight title in Birmingham.
