K. Thompson in Fort Worth, Texas. Both spent their childhood days in Oxford. Mrs. Mellon as Miss Roberts, went to Texas last summer for a visit and it was then the romance started. "The home of Mr. and Mrs. P. K. Thompson in Fort Worth, was the scene of a beautiful wedding on Thursday afternoon, April 22, at 5:30 when their niece, Miss Roberta Roberts of Oxford, Ala., was married to Mr. Sam Mellon, also of Alabama. Before the ceremony Miss Sewanee Van Cleve sang. "I Love You Truly." To the strains of Mendelssohn wedding march, play ed by Miss Frances Terrell, a cousin of the bride, the dainty little flower girls, Jean Thompson and Dora Lee Byers, attired in airy white dresses with pink ribbons, entered though the parlor carrying Easter Lillie, to open the French doors and disclose a charming table. Between tall floor vases holding pink snap dragons and fluffly ferns, stood the bride and groom with their attendants, Miss Jabie Thompson and Mr. James Thigpen. " "During the impressive ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Dr. J. Frank Norris, Miss Terrell softly played a theme from Mendelssohn. The bride was lovely in a tailored suit of navy blue tricotin with accessories to match. She wore a shower corsage of bride's roses and white sweet peas. Mi ss Thompson wore white lace with corsage of Killarney rosebuds. Miss Terrell and Miss Van Cleve were in pink taffeta and wearing bouquets of Ophelia rose buds and sweet peas. "The entire lower floor was artistically decorated in snap dragons, swe et peas and ferns. Immediately after the ceremony an informal reception w as held when Mrs. Thompson was assisted in entertaining by her sister, Mrs. Jean Hornbuckle, Misses Jabie and Julia Thompson and others. Mr. and Mrs. Mellon leaving shortly afterward for a stay in North Texas. Among the out-of-town guest were: Mrs. Ruth Wilkerson of Venus, Texas, Miss Jean Hornbuckle, and Mr. Leon Hornbuckle of Venus, Texas; Miss Bertha Foste r, a cousin of the groom of Farmersville, Texas; Miss Frances Terrell of Ladania, Texas; Rev. Ross A. Smith of Waco, Texas; Miss Margaret Jemison (T alladega, Alabama) , Miss Frances Terrell of Ladonia, Eugene Wilson, formerly of Oxford, Ala., now of Fort Worth."
