"I believe most photographers' hobby is photography. You don't have much time for anything else...photographers see pictures everywhere...will ruin shoes to get a good shot." Miss Roberts dedication and total involvement in photography shines through all her conversation. Even visits to her family revolve around shopping trips to Atlanta for photographic supplies. With the British Intelligence during World War II, Miss Roberts says of her time in service, "as I lay there on that little brown bunk I promised myself that I'd do what I wanted to do when the war was over." Armed with her hobby and 500 slides taken overseas, she opened her shop in 1946. She was besieged with request to give programs narrating her slides from as far away as Birmingham, including some military installations. "After 27 talks, I put the slides away," she states in a very determined voice. And in many years they have not been dusted off. Her favorite subject for photos? "I'm fickle. Today it's men, tomorrow women and children, the next day outdoor scenes," she says with a tinkle in her eye. A MUST is to see light...natural color is the thing today.. " Miss Roberts goes on about her life --- photography.
