Poole retired as line foreman for Alabama Power Company this weekend, his co-workers figure T.C. will be tempted to get out on the job anyway when the storms come and there's trouble on the lines. This is why they included a radio received - turned to the company's frequency in the pick-up truck the presented him Friday afternoon. They figure T.C.'s been with the job too long to completely get it out of his system. He returned after serving the company since Feb. 1, 1916 - 47 years ago. Co-workers remember how T.C. relates starting work with the Alabama Power Company as a helper in Leeds, with a salary of $1.25 per day. How he tells of building the hugh tension line from Georgia Steam Plant to Muscle Shoals before Wilson Dam was completed. They recall he was given 10 days by his draft board to report for duty during World War I - and on the 9th day the armistice was signed. How he came to Anniston in 1919, to work for J.M. Barry, then district manager but later president of the company. How he refused to take time off for vacations, and that he is second in seniority only to Thomas W. Martin, chairman of the board. But T.C. says he has some different plans for his retirement. No definite plans, he says, but he indicates he will have plenty to do. Such as visit his daughter in New York, or visit with his son and daughter here and his grandchildren. Or just plain fishing.
