Chambers The deceased, whose name appears above this article, was born in South Carolina on the 15th day of September, 1827, her maiden name being Sims. On October 19th, 1847, she married Mr. John Y. Chambers. The union was a most happy one and until her death, on the 16th of October of the present year, she was a loving and faithful helpmate to her husband during all the hopes and joys, trials and fears, which lay in their pathway during forty-four years of wedded life. She was the mother of eight children whom she left in the low ground of sorrow. It is the hope of the writer that when for them this life is over, they will join her in the bloodwashed throng around the Great White Throne. Mrs. Chambers was a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and by her pure example demonstrated that she was not a hearer of the word only, but that she believed in exemplifying the gospel truths in her daily walk and conversation. May the sorely bereaved husband and children imitate the virtuous example she set them, and sorrow not as those who have no hope, but remember the words of Him who said “I am the resurrection and the life.” “Far beyond this world of sorrow On fair Canaan’s peaceful shore, We shall meet, and with our Savior, Dwell in lover forevermore.” G.D.
