Piedmont News, 7 Jan 1943
  Jacksonville, ALA.  Jan 7 - Walter Champion, age 71 farmer on the Alexandria 
Road just outside ofr Jacksonville, died Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock 
after a short illness.
   Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the 
residence by the Rev. Clifford Gore and the Rev. Homer Wilkerson. 
Burial will be in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Odd Fellows officiating at 
the graveside.  Johnston is in charge.
   Mr. Champion is survived by his widow and a number of cousins.  There are 
no immediate members of his family.  He had resided near here for many years 
and had engaged in farming during this period.
