Phillip Perry Christopher, Native of N.C., and a resident of Semmes,Ala for a 
long number of years, died at his home there Thursday morning at 11:30 
o'clock. Mr Christopher was one of the oldest living Confederate veterans, and 
up until a year ago was actively ingaged in work. He was 95yrs of age. and was 
a member of companies 32 and 58 of the Alabama Infantry. He was discharged 
from the Confederate Army honorably on the 10th of May 1865. Since that time 
he has carried his discharge in his pockets and it was so worn with age that 
it was hardly legible. He is survived by 4 sons, P.G. and J.C. Christopher of 
Semmes. W.H. Christopher of Orchard and J.R. Christopher of Spring Hill; one 
daughter Mrs. Annie Cobb of Semmes. A number of grandchildren, great 
grandchildren and other relatives. His funeral took place yesterday afternoon 
at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence and at 3 o'clock from the Semmes 
Baptist Church with Rev. W.H. Evans officiating. The following served as 
Palbearers: J.C. Christopher, W.A. Christopher, George Christopher, J.A. 
Christopher, W.H. Christopher Jr. and H.F. Seabrook. Interment was in the 
Semmes Cemetary with the Roche Mortuary in Charge.

Additional Comments:
His wife of 62 yrs Cynthia Ann Gulledge Christopher had died in Feb of 1930 
just 8 mos before him. He was b. 11/30/1843 in GA. His father was William 
Christopher b. abt 1796 NC mother Jane Unknown b. abt 1802 SC. he had 7 
siblings John A., James, Harrison W(Wynn), Amanda L, Emily, William and Martha 
Christopher. William and Jane settled in Calhoun Co, AL btw 1845 & 1850 where 
they remained.
