Dempsey died on Saturday last, at his residence just west of town, in the 66th year of his age. Mr. Dempsey had lived in this vicinity for years, and had so lived as to deserve the respect of his neighbors. It was his lot to earn his bread in the sweat of his face, and uncomplainingly he wrought out his task, thanking God daily for the will and the power to accomplish it. He had long been a member of the Primitive Baptist church, to whose doctrines and customs he was fondly devoted, and in whose communion he sought the path to a blessed immortality. After many long and laborious years among men, he has found rest in the grave, which at last kindly takes all into its embrace.
