He and Mrs. Mellon were en rou te to Clover S.C., to visit her relatives and they stopped in Gainesville to eat. It was understood that a heart attack caused his sudden death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Oxford Presbyterian Church of which Mr. Mellon was a member. Dr. E. B. Robinson will officiate. Mr. Mellon served the unexpired term of his deceased brother, Foster, on the Calhoun County Jury Commission, the term expiring last year. Surviving are the widow, one brother, Sam Mellon of Oxford and three siste rs, Mrs. J. T. Brittain of Oneonta, Miss Betty Mellon and Mrs. Nell Mellon Hubbard of Oxford. Active pallbearers will be A. W. Heifner, Lewis Downing, Dave McKay, H. T. Stanford, Robert Lamar and Elf Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hallman, John Bailey, Dr. T. B. Howle, Dr. B. F. Caffey, Arthur Sharp, Raymond Marsh, Dawson Haynes, Newman Cryer, Ernest Wilson, B. S. Russell, W. A. Orr and Jim Cryer.
