I. R. (Sparky) Nixon, 77, longtime Abilene salesman, died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital. He had been seriously ill three days, moving to the hospital Monday from his home, 1110 N. Mockingbird Lane. He came to Abilene in 1923 as a traveling salesman for the Brown Cracker and Candy Co. He retired four years ago. He spent five years previously in Cleburne with the National Biscuit Co. and before that lived in Gatesville for 20 years. For the past two years he has been managing the Western Heights Pet and Supply Co. at his home. He was a member of the North Side Church of Christ, the Woodmen of the World and Woodmen Circle. He married Maggie Standlee of Gatesville in 1908. She died five years ago. Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Kiker-Warren Funeral Chapel, with Frank Pack minister of the North Side Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
