He would have been 78 years old today. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church in Oxford tomor row with the Rev. Eugene Cotey officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery. The time of the service will be announced later by Usrey Fun eral Home. Mr. Roberts retired on Oct, 1 after serving for 50 years as a buyer for Anniston Hardware Company. He was a member of Oxford's First Baptist Church and was one of the organizers of the Boy Scout movement in the Oxford Community. Survivors include one son, James R. Roberts, Oxford; two daughters, Miss Mary G. Roberts, Oxford, and Mrs. Lydia R. Wingfield, Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. James A. Orr, Mrs. Foster Mellon and Mrs. Sam A. Mellon, all of Oxford. He was married to the late Mrs. Margaret Richey Roberts and was the brother of the late Gowan Roberts, former Talladega County Tax Collector. Mr. Roberts was born and reared in Oxford and attended the old Oxford Coll ege. He was a member of the old Anniston Symphony Orchestra which was directed by T. Stanley Sibert. He also was Scoutmaster of one of the first Boy Scout troops ever organized in the community. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Calhoun County Sportsman's Club and the Oxford Chamber of Commerce.
