Poole in Serious Condition in Birmingham Hospital After Accident That Took Lives of Two Gate City Young Men Five Anniston People were injured in automobile accidents during the week end, two of them, Mrs. and Mrs. T. C. Poole, being seriously hurt and still in a Birmingham hospital, as a result of the wreck that was fatal to two young men. The Pooles were injured in a head-on collision late Saturday night on the Birmingham-Leeds Highway. Mrs. D. D. Weaver and Miss Belle Pearson received minor bruises when their automobile was side-swiped by another on the Gadsden Highway Sunday afternoon and J. A. Stanwick, a Fort McClellan soldier, received minor injuries in another accident on the Gadsden Highway. Mr. and Mrs. Poole planned to spend the week-end with relatives in Leeds. They were returning from Birmingham to Leeds when their car was struck by another machine, two of whose occupants were killed. Those who met death are Carl Jones of near Gate City and Howard Sellers of Gate City. Mr. Poole received fractures in his left arm and right leg and cuts and bruises over his body. His condition was termed serious. The condition of Mrs. Poole was said to be worse. She received a fractured arm and a severe cut on her leg and suffered from the loss of much blood. Poole's brother, Robert Poole of Leeds, received cuts about the head and was struck in the mouth, losing several teeth. Jason Ginn of Alexandria was held by Sheriff A. H. Borders today for investigation in connection with he accident involving the Weaver car on the Gadsden Highway. Ginn allegedly was in the machine which was said to have been driven by John Rusk, whom officers sought today. The car struck another automobile belong to a Mrs Singleton of Atlanta, Ga., a short time before the Weaver car was struck. Mrs. Weaver and Miss Pearson were treated at Garner Hospital for minor bruises and were dismissed. Additional Comments: T.C. Poole (Thomas Carl Poole Sr.) Mrs. T.C.
