Ervin Foster Rice after the Civil War. he served with the 47th Alabama Infantry, Company K. He was wounded in the 2nd Battle of Mannassas Gap in Virginia. After the war he returned home to his family in Calhoun (Benton) County, Alabama. He later lived in Cherokee County and finally Jackson County, Alabama. he is buried at the Goosepond Cemetery near Scottsboro, Jackson, Alabama.
