(Next Document) State of Georgia Elbert Co. At the request of W. Tho. Staples I do hereby - to all whom it may concern that sometime in the cost of last winter while the weather was exceptionally cold there came to my home an old Negro woman perhaps of forty years of age by the name of Phillis, the property of the Rev. Brew(ster) Bray. At which time she was nearly naked not having suffi(ciency) of clothing even to hide her nakedness. Given under my had this 8th Sept 1829 James Oglesby This is obviously someone's attempt to read the document regarding this event. My copy (which is the best I can ever hope for) is not very clear. However it is clear enough in parts to know they are the same and it is historically too important not to include. (Next Document which I believe is a list of the birth's of slaves. It appears that the list was made just after the end of the Civil war. all of the entries are in the same hand and it appears were written at the same time.)
