He settled with his family in the county in 1832, the year the county was opened up for settlement. The land that the family settled on was, according to family tradition, one mile long and five miles wide. The family rode the finest horses and dressed in the finest clothes. A 25 acre section of the original land is still in the family today and the eighth generation of the family still resides on it. Aaron was born in South Carolina around 1770. His father's name is unknown. His wife died in Georgia before the move to Alabama. Her name is unknown. Aaron's known children are Aaron, Jr.;Samuel;William;Elleanor;and David Sherrill Willliams. Aaron is listed on tax records in Greene County and Jasper County, Georgia. He also resided in Harris County, Georgia, just prior to his move to Alabama. Aaron died in Chambers County, Alabama, in the 1850's. He is buried at the Williams Family Cemetery in Chambers County, Alabama. The cemetery is located off Chambers County Road 500 just across from the site of the log cabin built by Aaron and his family in 1832. This cabin was in sight of an Indian village.
