He was born c1790. Samuel was an "Indian Trader" according to family stories and he took an Indian wife. He was an early settler of the Indian trading post, Franklin, now known as West Point, Georgia, and a pioneer settler of Chambers County, Alabama. His wife was called a "half breed", and the family would not let "that half- breed" sleep in the house. She had to sleep in the barn. This unfortunate woman is buried beside her husband at the Williams Family Cemetery in Chambers County, Alabama. Samuel is said to have assisted in the removal of the Creek Indians to the west on the Trail of Tears. If that is true then he would have been a conductor for the Alabam Immigrating Company, the company responsible for the move. Samuel also is listed as being appointed guardian of an Indian child, the daughter of Emathlar Yoholo, who had passed away. Usually, this was an attempt to gain control of property left to the child at the parent's death, and this was most likely Samuel's motivation. Records indicate that he associated with men notorious for mistreating the Indians. Samuel Williams died in the 1860's in Chambers County, Alabama. He had no children. A son of his brother, David, was named "Samuel" in his honor.
