They settled in the dense woodland area and John worked as a farmer and maybe cut timber. Their daughter, Eugenia Priscilla Treadwell was fair and very pretty and apparently was courted by two cousins, Robert L. Brown and John Wesley Hamilton. Robert won her hand and they married, settling in a log cabin near Rison. John Wesley was so heartbroken, he moved to Texas to live with one of his sisters. The Browns had two daughters, Roberta and Lutie. In Feb.1891, while crossing a small creek called the Derrisseau, Robert's horse threw him into the freezing water and he drowned. Upon hearing from family members that Robert had died, John Wesley Hamilton came back to Arkansas to be with the family. After a time, he and Eugenia (Genie) began a courtship and later, were married in Jefferson County, Arkansas. They had a family of five and they, with the previous two children, made quite a large family, all of whom were both half sisters and brothers as well as cousins. Robert L. Brown is buried in the Niven Cemetery, Cleveland County, Arkansas and Genie and John Wesley Hamilton are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Cleveland Co., Arkansas.
